Solar System-177.2.LF-2: A System of Planets Scorched by Capricious Sun Beings

Although there are two habitable planets in this solar system, the only life that is sentient is actually found on the star they orbit.  Its surface is alive with regular flares of magnetic and coronal activity, where strange supernatural life has emerged on its own in the plasma plains of the surface. As commonly happens …

Local Group-757.4.SC-10: A Universe Home to Alien Superheroes and Cosmic Beings

This was a modern world of superheroes and supervillains.  For those people their superpowers came from alien physiology or "cosmic" forces (incomprehensibly advanced science and technology) from outer space.  The multiverse scholars who studied this world note that it was occupied by large numbers of alien civilizations and filled with starships, and system-scale post-singularity A.I.  …

Universe-998.8.PW-97: A Pesudo-Multiverse of Solitude and Angels

While easily mistakable for an entire multiverse of its own, complete with varied and different planes to walk between, this world is, in fact, a single universe.  Its structure is partitioned, made of uncountable finite demiplanes adjacent to each other.  The path between these self-contained worlds, so full of color and variation, is through special …

Local Cluster-907.7.CO-5: A Cluster of Galaxies Shaped by God-Like AI

At some point in some part of the universe, intelligent life made AI that reached singularity.  Those AI went on to artifice their own successor intelligence, which reached a higher singularity.  By the fifth iteration of this process beings capable of reshaping the universe on at least a galactic scale ascended into existence.  They became …

Earth-505.6.SL-25: A Solarpunk Earth of Augmented Reality

In the 1970's the United States and the other countries on Earth came together, seeing the need to act on the impending climate catastrophe.  With dramatic changes to the world-wide energy economy they not only averted world-wrecking climate change, but they created a more equitable globalized world.  The most obvious transformation led to cities built, …

Visualizing Your Place in the Solar System in Proper Scale

Earth is home. Our Solar System is also home, but it is far larger than most people realize. Part of this is an inability to experience this distance in person: most people never spend much time traveling across the planet Earth in a way to take in the size of all our continents and seas, and our local backyard in outer space is orders of magnitude larger. Another problem can be the way space is presented to our visual minds in scale.
